One week ago, Jenny who was Dana’s flatmate asked us that if we would like to go to Sunshine Coast and Aussie Zoo with Dana and her on July 2 and July 3. Lily and I had had a plan to the Australia Zoo so we agreed immediately. In the rest of that week, Lily and I prepared some steamed bread with mince pork, some sushi and baked some cookies for our lovely weekend.

Of course, if you had donated to us before, you would see the details of the recipe for the cuisine by the special link I gave you. In addition, there are also some restricted photos in this article for you, donators. Therefore it’s not too late to take action now.

On Saturday morning, we met in front of Hungry Jack located in the intersection of Queen St. and Albert St. at 7:45 a.m. and went to Central Railway station to catch the train of Sunshine Coast Line to Landsborough station at 8:05 a.m.

On our way, we talked about the life in OZ, what kind of food was scrummy and where we could buy cheap and high-quality goods for instance. One and a half hours later, we got in Landsborough station and that was also the time I lost my scarf. Until now, I still cannot remember where that is.

When we walked out, there had been a bus, 615, waiting in front of the station. Hence we got on the bus to our next destination, Sunshine Plaza, where the staff of Maroochydore YHA would pick us up. Around eleven o’clock, we arrived in YHA, checked in, asked for the city map, and then went to our 4-persons room.

P1110230.JPG  P1110228.JPG

In our room, there were two bunk beds and two boxes with tableware inside. It was not big but very clean and tidy. After setting down my personal stuff, I was expelled from the room since these three ladies were not accustomed to being watched while they were getting dressed. In the meantime, I went around this YHA, recognized the positions of facilities and took some photos.

This was the social hall and dining room. See!! There were a row of fridges within a great deal of bags and a massive cabinet in the kitchen. We finished our prepared lunch, took a brief break and then started our adventure.

It was South Maroochy River nearby Maroochydore YHA. Could you tell where I was in the bridge! This canal reminded me that several years ago I had visited a beautiful village called Giethoorn which was one of the most top-three attractive places in the Netherlands I thought. Compared with then, I was really lucky that I was not alone anymore.

We walked along the street but it seemed that it was not a travelling season because there were fewer tourists on the street or maybe all young people had gone to Gold Coast where lots of shopping center malls were located after all.

P1110240.JPG  P1110241.JPG

Forty minutes later, we arrived in Cotton Tree Holiday Park where there were also fewer tourists. It had fresh air and pristine sea but freezing cold. It was a pity that we couldn’t see anyone surfing there. We were not sure whether it was a surfing area or not but indeed we saw many surfers when the staff was driving us to the hostel.

There were only two girls lying on the beach to sunbathe. I want bikinis…

We left our footprints here.

We went around the beach before being defeated by the chilly winds.

In Cotton Tree Holiday Park, there were hundreds of tourist caravan and tent sites. We could see lots of luxurious caravans with sufficient living facilities parking there.

While strolling in the park, we saw some BBQ tables. Suddenly an exciting idea came out. "It was fascinating to have a barbie here, wasn’t it!" Therefore we hastened to Woolworths at once.

Around six o’clock, we finished our dinner, collected all stuff and then went back to the hostel.

After over 10-hour marathon sleep, we got up in the early morning and enjoyed a backpacker-style buffet.

The staff of the YHA hostel drove us to the specific place to wait for the free bus sent by Australia Zoo. On the bus, we watched the video about the Crocodile Hunter who “played” with animals and listened to the brief schedule introduced by the driver.

This ticket cost 47 dollars per person for student price.

After passing through the entry, we checked the time table of shows and found that the nearest show “Morning Elephants Hands-on!” was ongoing now so we stepped out right away. On our way to the elephant show, we saw a lizard, passed by gigantic tortoises which were still like stones and then suffered from attacks of a perilous crocodile but fortunately we were out of the wood by having the crocodile’s teeth taken out.

Unluckily when we arrived in the elephant show, there had been already a great number of audiences crowding and waiting for feeding elephants so we changed our plan and left for the most important show first since there was also another elephant feeding show we could joined in the afternoon.

In Crocoseum, we saw gargantuan elephants, haughty vultures, obedient flight birds, boisterous parrots, tame snakes, and a fierce crocodile.

This was a special tiger show not listed in the timetable. Look at these compliant tigers. Do you know whether you can avoid yourself on the tree being attacked by a tiger? Just check out the video clip below.

Wombat is Lily’s favorite animal in OZ because its grey fur is like Atu’s. Do you know Wombat also has a pouch!

There is a difference between Taiwan’s zoo and OZ’s zoo. That is you can see dogs in OZ’s zoos but not in Taiwan’s. Look at these Shiba-like Dingos.

Cassowaries were the most impressive animals for me In the Aussie zoo because they seemed to like to play with me. Just check out the following links and you could see they always followed my steps.

P1110847.JPG  P1110850.JPG  P1110853.JPG

- The crazy cassowary.

Do not lean over the barriers. Tassie Devils have approximately three times the biting pressure of a Pit Bull Terrier.

P1110862.JPG  P1110860.JPG

- The sleepy devil.

The bigger the iguana, the bigger the territory and the more girls they have.

Australia Zoo was too big to visit within limited time. Until 16:00, there were still a lot of areas we hadn’t visited but we really had a good time there. The shuttle bus picked us up at 16:30 and drove us to Beerwah train station to take the train at 16:50. It didn’t take as much time as we spent yesterday. Finally we got in Brisbane city at 18:00.
